Since Les was big on farm reports, he should have known that farm raised turkeys have had their wings clipped by the farmers so they could NOT fly away.

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

I lived in London for a year back in the 1980s (school). We US students asked a restaurant to cater a Thanksgiving meal for us. They did a great job, except for the pumpkin pie. They thought you were supposed to make it like apple pie, with slices of pumpkin . . . [xx(] Bless their hearts!
